Sun, 20 Nov 2011 12:00:00 -0800 Ten Principles of a Free Society http://posterous.caseyclayhall.com/ten-principles-of-a-free-society http://posterous.caseyclayhall.com/ten-principles-of-a-free-society

by Ron Paul in "Liberty Defined"

1. Rights belong to individuals, not groups; they derive from our nature and can neither be granted nor taken away by government.

2. All peaceful, voluntary economic and social associations are permitted; consent is the basis of the social and economic order.

3. Justly acquired property is privately owned by individuals and voluntary groups, and this ownership cannot be arbitrarily voided by governments.

4. Government may not redistribute private wealth or grant special privilages to an individual or group.

5. Individuals are responsible for their own actions; government cannot and should not protect us from ourselves.

6. Government may not claim the monopoly over a people's money, and government must never engage in official counterfeiting, even in the name of macroeconimic stability.

7. Aggressive wars, even when called preventative, and even when they pertain only to trade relations, are forbidden.

8. Jury nullification, that is, the right of jurors to judge the law as well as the facts, is a right of the people and the courtroom norm.

9. All forms of involuntary servitude are prohibited, not only slavery but also conscription, forced association, and forced welfare distribution.

10. Government must obey the law it expects other people to obey and thereby must never use force to mold behavior, manipulate social outcomes, manage the economy, or tell other countries how to behave.

Thu, 10 Nov 2011 14:00:00 -0800 Credit Card Rewards Increase http://posterous.caseyclayhall.com/credit-card-rewards-increase http://posterous.caseyclayhall.com/credit-card-rewards-increase

Some credit card issuers are increasing cash back rewards this holiday season. They hope the rewards encourage customers to use credit cards more during the season of elevated spending, and as a result, some customers may spend more than they should. If customers charge more to their credit cards than they can repay when due, the issuers will collect plenty of interest fees to offset any additional rewards they granted.

Below are two sample messages sent by banking institutions inviting customers to enroll in the additional rewards programs. Customers must accept the invitations to be eligible for the additional rewards. With no fees to enroll, the programs are a good deal for customers who use credit cards responsibly. As always, customers should pay their credit card balances in full before the due dates to avoid paying any interest charges.

Earn 5% cash back on qualifying purchases through December 31, 2011.
Use your recently renewed Bank of America credit card to earn 5% cash back (up to $25) on book store, toy store, sporting goods store, electronics store and department store purchases. Simply register now and use your card for these types of purchases through December 31, 2011.

As a feature of your existing Wells Fargo credit card, this holiday season, you'll earn 2% cash back on your net purchases (purchases minus returns/credits) for holiday shopping and dining out. Just enroll today and use your card for holiday shopping at your favorite retail stores and for dining out, from casual meals to special-occasion lunches and dinners.
Now through December 31, 2011, earn double cash back for your qualifying net purchases. Just click below to automatically enroll your card.

Thu, 06 Oct 2011 15:00:00 -0700 Bulls And Bears http://posterous.caseyclayhall.com/bulls-and-bears http://posterous.caseyclayhall.com/bulls-and-bears

Have you ever wondered why the terms "bull" and "bear" are used to describe directional movements of investment markets? A bull market is when prices are rising. A bear market is when prices are declining. These directions represent the ways each animal attacks when fighting. A bull attacks by thrusting his horns upward. A bear attacks by swiping his paws downward. Therefore, these animals became metaphors for the upward and downward movements of the market.

"We have led Texas based on some just really pretty simple guiding principles. One is don’t spend all of the money. Two is keeping the taxes low and under control. Three is you have your regulatory climate fair and predictable. Four is reform the legal system so frivolous lawsuits don’t paralyze employers that are trying to create jobs. Over the years, we have followed this recipe to produce the strongest economy in the nation."
